"If this is what dying feels like, I guess I wouldn't mind being taken away..." death's dynamic shroud.wmv - I'll Try Living Like This
From the name "death's dynamic shroud" I knew I would be in for something unpredictable. It tells you that death can and will conceal itself. Will it come for you one day? I don't think I want to know the answer to that.
I didn't know what was going to jump up to me. The thing that showed in front of me was this album.
I have never experienced taking drugs, nor do I plan to in the future, but if I can say the closest thing to that? This album. This album is like indulging into something you know can kill you.
I live in fear of anything similar to that because I know that I will never be able to escape.
Translating the titles of most of the songs, you get the sense that someone is struggling over a lost loved one (lost in the context of someone passing away or a breakup).
"Because of you, my heart, my heart, my heart, my heart aches" (너 땜에 맘이 맘이 맘이 맘이 괴로워요)
"I'm left alone now" (혼자 남은 지금 꼴이)
"Can't get any better than this" (이보다 좋을 수는 없겠어)
"My heart is trembling" (내 마음은 떨고)
"Tired of remembering you, I fall asleep" (그대 기억에 지쳐 잠들죠)
"I smile again saying I'm okay / Good Bye" (난 괜찮다고 또 웃으며 / Good Bye)
They're trying to recover yet it doesn't seem to be working. They eventually give up, commit suicide so they can finally let go.
The main theme of this record is mostly death and nihilism. Even the name "I'll Try Living Like This" hints at the "characters" manifested on the album will try to live with their nihilist life. This record heavily samples AOA, there have been stories of AOA Mina being bullied and abused by her company. The first track samples an AOA which start with the lyrics "They're cancer, don't suffer in silence." Which comes back to the whole concept of negativity, and like I said nihilism.
Listening to this in full, I couldn't help but shed a tear. Everything's so ethereal and lush that it becomes peaceful, all good to be true right? If it's too good to be true, run away.
Everyone has their different interpretations of this album, listen to it and maybe you can tell me what you saw.
